ABOUT HTET: To ensure that persons recruited as teachers possess the essential qualification and capacity to meet the challenges of teaching at Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary degree, one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment
as a teacher in any of the schools recognized by the Department of School Education, Haryana and involved by the Board of School Education, Haryana is that he or she should pass the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test.
Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) will be planned by this Board in pursuance of with these Guidelines and such other rules/regulations/instructions/policies rated by the National Council for Teacher Education/Department of School Education, Haryana.
Eligibility and Qualification for HTET Coaching :
Minimum Education Qualifications for Classes I-V (Primary Stage): Primary Teacher (PRT)
1. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Passed or appearing in final year of 2- years Diploma in Primary Education (by whatever name known), in pursuance of with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2007 notiÒed on 31 August 2009.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and Passed or appearing in final year of 2- years Diploma in Primary Education (by whatever name known), in pursuance of with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- years Bachelor of Primary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- years Diploma in Education (Special Education).
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in Primary Education (by whatever name known).
2. 10th with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr. Secondary / Graduation / Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the subjects.
Minimum Education Qualifications for Classes VI-VII (Elementary Stage):
1) TGT Social Studies
i) B.A./B.Com/B.sc and 2-years Diploma in Primary Education;
OR
B.A. /B.Com/B.sc with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in B.Ed.;
OR
B.A. /B.Com/B.sc with at least 45% marks and 1-year Bachelor in B.Ed., in pursuance of with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard;
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor in Primary Education (B. El. Ed.);
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years BA/B.Com BEd.;
OR
B.A./B.Com/B.sc at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed.
AND
ii) In case of B.A. /B.Com, in addition to English, a combination of at least two subjects with at least 50% marks in aggregate individually in the subjects during all the years of study out of the following:-
(1) History
(2) Political Science
(3) Economics
(4) Geography
(5) Sociology
(6) Psychology
(7) Physics
(8) Chemistry
(9) Botany
(10) Zoology
(11) Mathematics
iii) In the case of B.Ed., Social Studies as a teaching subject from a recognized university.
iv) 12th with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr. Secondary / Graduation / Post Haryana Teacher

(ii) 10th with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr. Secondary / Graduation / Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the Subjects.
(iii) Consistent good academic record
Primary Teacher- From class I to V
- Candidates should have passed higher education with 50% marks.
- Candidates should have passed Secondary education with 45% marks.
- Passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Trained Graduate Teacher- Class VI to VII
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education.
- Graduation passed with 45% marks or appearing in the first year of B.ED.
Post Graduate teacher: Class IX to XII
Apart from the above-mentioned eligibility, the candidate must have passed done Post Graduation in the respective subject which should have been passed with minimum 50% marks.
Scheme of exam:
The exam will be of a duration of two and a half hour. There will be multiple choice questions with four answer options. Each of these questions carries 1 mark each and there will be no negative marking.
HTET Exam Pattern:
Paper I: For Primary Teachers
The paper will have 150 questions of 1 mark each and these questions will be divided into 5 sections carrying equal weightage.
The five sections would be:
- Language I (Hindi)
- Language II (English)
- Child Development and Pedagogy
- Mathematics
- Environmental Studies.
Paper II: For Trained Graduate Teachers
The paper will have 150 questions of 1 mark each and these questions will be divided into 4 sections.
The respective weightage of each section would be:
- Child Development and Pedagogy- 30 marks
- Language I- 30 marks- (English)
- Language II- 30 marks- (Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu)
- Mathematics and Sciences- 60 marks
- Social Sciences- 60 marks
Mathematics and Sciences and Social Sciences would be choices and only one of both the sections is to be attempted.
Post Graduate teacher:
The paper will have 150 questions of 1 mark each and these questions will be divided in 4 sections.
The respective weightage of each section would be:
- Child Development and Pedagogy- 30 marks
- Language I- 30 marks- (English)
- Language II- 30 marks- (Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu)
- Subject-specific- 60 marks
Qualifying Criteria:
(i) FOR SCHEDULED CASTE CANDIDATES:55% (83 out of 150)
(ii) FOR ALL OTHER CATEGORIES CANDIDATES:60% (90 out of 150)
The teachers qualifying this exam are considered eligible for the final interview, where they are finally recruited as per their performance.
