Military Nursing Service (MNS) Entrance Exam is the first hurdle that aspirants must pass in order to pursue a 4-year BSc Nursing Course at Armed Forces Medical Colleges and Command Hospitals – the premier institutes in India. Female aspirants must perform well in both the written and interview rounds to make it to the final selection. Thus, the MNS entrance exam provides assured career prospects to eligible female aspirants in the defence services.

Applicants must be born between October 1, 1997 – September 30, 2005. This is inclusive of both the dates mentioned. The date of birth (DOB) of the candidate will be verified via their class 10 certificate.
Aspirants who have cleared their class 12 examinations as a regular student with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their core subjects are eligible to apply for MNS exam. Candidates appearing for their class 12 examinations are also eligible to fill Indian Army BSc nursing application form. Those who have passed their class 12, are required to have qualified their exam in a single attempt.
MNS exam tests a candidate’s Science, General Knowledge and English. The exam is composed of 3 sections, namely General English, General Intelligence and Science. The questions will be based on topics from the course curriculum of Class XI and XII. Each right answer will fetch +1 and no negative marks are awarded for every incorrect answer.

The Directorate General of Medical Services will organise the examination in offline mode. The duration of the test is 90 minutes. The exam will have objective-type questions.

The selection will be based on the merit of the candidate at an All India level.
A written objective type of examination will be conducted in February/ March every year, at certain selected centers (Published from time to time.)
Successful candidates will be called for an interview at selected centers in the month of April/May each year.
Physical standards
Medical fitness will be determined as per standards applicable for the commission in the Armed Forces. X-Ray examination of Chest and USG (of abdomen & pelvis) will be done.
Minimum height should not be less than 148 cm (relaxed by 5cm in case of North East candidates).

The written examination will be conducted in selected centres all over India. Stipend and Uniform Allowances:
A stipend of Rs.250/- per month is given during the four years of training. Initial outfit allowance of Rs 800/- is given on joining the course and a outfit renewal allowance of Rs 300 per year during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of the course.
